Our StoryA STAPLE OF THE
DOWNTOWN COMMUNITY,

Springfield Brewing Company (known by many simply as the “BrewCo” or “SBC”)has been in the business of brewing world class beers since 1997. Our story began when thePaul Mueller Company purchased the original building to create a showcase for their stainless-steel brewery tanks. In so doing, the landscape of downtown Springfield was changed forever. Their goal was to provide the 417 community with a unique brewpub experience, combining locally crafted beer withgreatfood. The Paul Mueller Company no longer owns the brewery, however the spirit of Paul lives on in our annual Anniversary beer release of Paul’s Pale Ale.

25 years later, the SBC phenomenon has evolved into the next level. Still 100% locally-owned, we strive to provide the entire 417 area a truly unique experience that isn’t replicated anywhere else. It’s true we’ve become known for our world class beers and food, but now, we have our very own onsite distillery, Ty Iechyd Da Elevated Spirits. Located next door to Springfield Brewing Company, Ty Iechyd Da, offers small batch spirits that can be enjoyed at our brewpub and are also available for purchase at our bottle shop located downstairs at our brewpub.

The entire team at SBC is devoted to providing Springfield with a truly unique destination – and we’ve succeeded – it’s unlike anything you can find in the entire U.S.  And it’s all right here, on a small corner of downtown Springfield, Missouri!

Our two-story building, at the 300 block of Market Street in Downtown Springfield, was built in 1910 by Job Newton, a prominent local business man, who occupied it until 1924 as the Newton Grain Company. In 1924, Job retired and sold the business to the Greene County Farmers Sales Association who resided in the building until 1964. After 1964, the building was leased and sold a number of times with one of the businesses being an electronic repair company.

In February 1997 the Paul Mueller Company purchased the building, renovated it with the help of BRP Architecture, and opened it on December 19, 1997 under the name – Springfield Brewing Company. In 2011, a group of local investors and craft beer lovers purchased the building from Mueller and own and operate it today!
