About Us

Missouri’s Winningest Family-Owned/Independent Brewery

Springfield Brewing Company (SBC) has been in the business of brewing world class beers since 1997. Our story began when Paul Mueller Company purchased the original building to create a showcase for their stainless steel brewery equipment. In so doing, the landscape of downtown Springfield was changed forever. Over the years there have been several brewery expansions and evolutions including increasing capacity, converting our packaging from bottling to canning, expanding into adjacent buildings, and introducing our own cider (to name a few). Despite always striving to be better, we remain resolute to our roots: brewing our community world class beers of the highest quality, flavor and consistency – from right here in downtown Springfield, Missouri.

More than Quarter of a Century later, SBC continues to evolve.

We are a locally-owned, independent family business and we continue to strive to provide our entire distribution footprint with truly unique beers that we believe are unmatched in flavor, quality, and consistency from a brewery our size. In 2020 we opened Ty Iechyd Da (TID), our very own onsite distillery. Next door to Springfield Brewing Company, TID offers a wide variety of unique, small batch spirits that can be enjoyed at each of our venues.

The entire team at SBC/TID is devoted to providing our community with truly unique products and venues. The SBC/TID experience is unlike anything else in the U.S., and it all started right here, on a little corner in downtown Springfield, Missouri.

Our Campus History

Our two-story building, at the 300 block of Market Street in Downtown Springfield, was originally built in 1910 by Job Newton, a prominent local business man, who occupied it until 1924 as the Newton Grain Company. In 1924, Job retired and sold the business to the Greene County Farmers Sales Association who resided in the building until 1964. The building was then leased and sold a number of times with one of the businesses being an electronic repair company.

In February 1997, the Paul Mueller Company purchased 305 South Market Ave, renovated it under the guidance of BRP Architecture, and on December 19, 1997 opened Springfield Brewing Company. In 2011 Mueller sold the building and business, and Springfield Brewing Company has been locally/family owned ever since. Our downtown campus has continued to grow and evolve over the years into a one-of-a-kind family of production facilities, products and venues.
