Heart of Darkness Dunkel

AVAILABLE

FEBRUARY-MARCH

DESCRIPTION:

Heart of Darkness is a rich, malty lager with aromas of dark bread, roasted nuts and warm earthiness as well touch of smokiness from an addition of rauch malt (smoked malt from Germany).

THE STORY:

Dunkel is a German adjective describing things that are dark in color, and a “dunkel lagerbier” literally means “dark lager beer”. Traditionally this beer style was brewed in areas that contained high levels of carbonates in the ground water because this type of alkaline water balanced the lower pH associated with dark malts.

SUGGESTED PAIRING:

For the true lover of beer, no trip to München is complete without enjoying a rich and satisfying glass of Dunkel paired with schweinshaxe (Bavarian roasted pork knuckle), kartoffelknoedel (potato dumpling) and blaukraut (braised red cabbage).
